Hello, my name is Lucia Tabacaru, I live in Italy and I am a graduate physicist and a self-taught painter. I have a passion for both science and art, and I enjoy exploring the connections and contrasts between them.
I have experience in teaching, doing research, and science popularisation. I have taught physics at various levels, from high school to university.
I have been painting from a very early age, from the time I remember myself, and I have never stopped. Painting is not just a hobby for me, but a necessity. I paint because I cannot not paint. I paint to balance the two hemispheres of my brain (joking). Painting helps me to express myself, to explore my emotions, to challenge my perceptions, and to create something beautiful. I paint with various mediums, such as oil, water colours and tempera, and I have developed my own style were classical painting fuses with abstract, where colours and lines express motions, and various emotions of people and different living beings as well as the interaction between the animated and the inanimate world. My painting has been shown only to a limited number of people, mostly friends.
Occasionally, I have participated in art exhibitions organised by municipalities. In spite of having no publicity, I have sold quite a number of my paintings, it seems some people like my pictures.
I believe that science and art are not mutually exclusive, but complementary. Physics helps me to understand the nature of reality, while painting helps me to interpret it. Physics and mathematics give me the tools to analyse and explain, while painting gives me the freedom to imagine and create. I think it is time to share my artistic exploring with more people, this is the reason why I created this web site. Science and art are both ways of exploring the world and ourselves, and I hope to share my insights and discoveries with you. Thank you for coming to my web site and I hope you enjoy my paintings. Just for information: some of my pictures signed as Lucia Tabacaru, and some as Lucia Moiseenco.
The painting exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere, reminiscent of a cozy afternoon in a sunlit orchard. The parrot’s vibrant green feathers add a lively contrast to the soft hues of the cherries and the translucent glass bowl. It’s as if the scene is whispering stories of nature’s simple pleasures and the quiet moments that make life sweet. The thoughtful composition and the rich, warm colours invite the viewer to pause and appreciate the beauty of the everyday.(2024)
The artist imagined an event in early human history of the appearance of a very bright star, called a Supernova. Nowadays, astronomers know, this is a gigantic explosion of a star that happens when certain stars reach the ends of their lives.
Supernovae have set the conditions under which life on Earth had to exist. They have influenced Earth’s climate, oxygen production and affected nutrient concentration in the oceans and probably played a role in the evolution of plants, animals and humans.
On May 18, 2023, a Supernova erupted in the nearby Pinwheel galaxy located about 22 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope detected this event.
The last Supernova to be visible with the naked eye in our galaxy was SN 1604, or Kepler’s Supernova, which occurred in the year 1604 and was bright enough to be seen during the day. (2024)
This piece of art was created to celebrate movement and life through its vibrant colors and abstract forms. (2024)
In the quiet of the evening, as the golden beer glimmers in the glasses and the salted pretzels lay invitingly on the table, a young bear’s curiosity is piqued by the warm glow emanating from the window. With innocent eyes, the bear peers through the glass, its silhouette a gentle contrast to the merriment inside. Perhaps it’s the laughter, a sound so akin to the joyous streams it plays in, or the scent of the savory treats, that draws the bear closer. It stands there, a silent observer, young and intrigued, a wild and beautiful reminder of the world that thrives just beyond the human haven.
This young bear, with its soft fur slightly ruffled by the breeze, is a tender embodiment of nature’s pure curiosity. It’s a moment where two worlds meet, separated by a thin barrier, yet connected by a shared sense of wonder.

In this serene composition, the artist captures the essence of nature's tranquility. The still life arrangement of olives and lemons, alongside the transparent jug filled with golden olive oil, evokes a sense of rustic charm. The butterfly, perched delicately, adds a touch of whimsy and movement to the scene. It's as if a gentle Mediterranean breeze has paused, allowing us to savor this moment of harmony and beauty. The still life presented here, is a captivating tableau that speaks of life’s simple pleasures. The beehive-shaped clay pot, with its intricate stripes, stands as a testament to nature’s meticulous craftsmanship, while the surrounding fruits, ripe and rich in colour, offer a feast for the senses. The bottle and glass of red wine suggest a celebration of the day’s end, a moment to unwind and savour the fruits of one’s labour. The dark backdrop accentuates the vividness of the still life, drawing the viewer into a moment suspended in time, where the beauty of the mundane is elevated to art. (2024)
